marvel studios: Marvel Studios bags 6 Oscar pre-nominations. See details

[ad_1]

The Academy has been severely criticized in the past for overlooking the superhero genre as a potential candidate in the race for Oscars. Most of the time, superhero movies only receive casual nominations that go nowhere. However, with 2018’s Black Panther winning the Oscar for Best Costume Design, Production Design, and Original Score, the popular opinion is slowly witnessing a healthy change.

As the year 2022 comes to an end, Disney and Marvel are both rooting for Oscar recognition for films like Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Thor: Love and Thunder, and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

The two projects of the Marvel Studios that have been pre-nominated by the Academy Awards across various categories are Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and Doctor Strange In the Multiverse of Madness.

While Doctor Strange In the Multiverse of Madness was able to secure pre-nomination under the Visual Effects category only.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever on track to outperform Thor: Love and Thunder?

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever on track to outperform Thor: Love and Thunder?

Chances of Wakanda Forever winning at least in one category are fairly high considering its predecessor’s history. It is also worth mentioning that these pre-nomination don’t include Black Panther 2 in Best Costume and Best Production Design category even though the film concentrates heavily on both of these aspects. Not only does the film deserve a nomination in these two categories but also stands a shot at winning as well.

In the VFX category, no MCU or any other film stands a chance against Avatar: The Way of Water.

It’s important to note that these are not the final nominations, so not every project listed in each category will be up for its respective award in March 2023.
