Google’s budget smartphone line is (maybe, possibly(opens in a new tab)) going out with a bang. Announced at the company’s annual I/O conference Wednesday and available now, the new Google Pixel 7a is a 6.1-inch handset that’s basically just a smaller, cheaper version of last year’s excellent Pixel 7 flagship model. It brings several firsts for the Pixel A-series, including a face unlock feature, wireless charging, and a 90Hz refresh rate, and it’s priced at $499 for 128GB of storage — that’s only $50 more than the 2022 Pixel 6a.
